Driver charged over Brunswick West hit-and-run
Elderly pedestrian suffered serious injuries

A man has turned himself into police 24 hours after he was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run collision in Brunswick West.
Police on Friday charged the 40-year-old man with several offences over the collision from which an elderly woman suffered serious injuries.
A car he was allegedly driving struck a 70-year-old woman pedestrian at the corner of Melville Road and Victoria Street just after 8.30am on Thursday.
She was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.
Police said the driver of the car stopped momentarily but fled the scene before police arrived.
A Brunswick man presented himself at a police station on Friday morning.
He has been charged with unlicensed driving, two counts of failing to stop and render assistance at a collision scene, and failing to notify police of a serious injury collision.
He has been bailed to appear Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 5 October.
